this weekend we went to ban nam khem and saw the tsunami memorial, as well as much of the damage that took place that is still very apparent. the beach was eerily quiet, and stripped pretty bare still. you can see the vegetation is just kind of starting to come back in places. it gave us a much more real perspective for why we're here.
the fish was my dinner on sunday night. it's pickled red snapper in garlic and basil. it was amazing. i ate it all (where the meat was, not the bones and teeth of course). see the smile.

monday we went to ban nai si, and helped some missionaries at a Burmese immigrant village. the first picture is todd and saimamoa (a burmese man who lost his wife and children in the tsunami, but has since remarried, and given his life to Christ), and i walking through the jungle.
the second picture is a river we crossed to get to saimamoa's father-in-law's house. there's a great story with this that will be included in my next email. it was a beautiful weekend (in more ways than just scenery).

On Campus - Week 2

the twinn inn - our home for this month. this is mine and mitch's room.

on campus - that is a close-up of a confier tree of some sort. yes, a conifer. i was surprised to see it as well. i thought those only grew in temperate climates, however i apparently thought wrong. this is not the only one on campus.
those tall ones in the next picture are tropical, but they look coniferous. anyway, that is a beautiful courtyard on campus. i would probably sit there everyday and read if i were student here.
the bottom picture is of P'Ole (Thailand Campus Student Link - Campus Director). he's awesome! rodney and alisha are in there also. we are getting ready to go around campus and talk to people about Jesus.

those are squid. they eat those here. they don't look very appetizing.
those are the bananas i bought at a market for 25 baht (about 72 cents)...i think there were 24 of them.
motorcycles are the way to get around here. everyone has one i think.
that is a shoes store - their largest size is a 9.
